Christmas Lights 2019

12/27/2019

Medellin had two primary locations for lights this year – Parque Norte and Parque del Rio. The latter turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, covering a smaller area and mostly feeling like last year’s displays reused, so we returned to Parque Norte. The theme was ‘Family Values’,…Read More

Murray’s Birthday 2019

11/03/2019

I’ve never much liked birthdays, but I enjoy spending time with Sandra any weekend. She always steps it up a bit for the first weekend in November, though. This year, she took me to an escape room with a medieval / dragon theme in Envigado. For those who don’t know,…Read More

Athens

10/16/2019

Feeling soooo grateful for such an amazing holiday with my love. I was in Paradise, and Murray and I were part of it. I keep in my mind incredible memories from this vacation, the best  I have had so far. Knowing more than ever that simple things make a great…Read More

Paros

10/14/2019

Paros was a blessing after Santorini. A few hundred tourists got off the ferry with us, but the island was bigger than any we’d been to, so it absorbed us all more easily. The locals were more relaxed (not as exhausted) and our hotel was right on the beach. We…Read More

Santorini

10/10/2019

Sandra wanted to see Santorini because it’s the island that everyone talks about. A quick look online found a page that said if you were going to spend 10 days in the Greek Islands, you should spend half of them on Santorini because of the views, the wine, the volcano…Read More

Naxos

10/10/2019

There was no direct ferry to Santorini, so we changed at Naxos. It was clearly more popular with tourists than Amorgos, but so late in the season, we could wander the streets of Naxos in relative peace. Our first stop was the archeology museum, which had a collection of pieces…Read More

Amorgos

10/09/2019

We arrived in Athens on Monday at midday and stayed the night near the port, ready to jump on a ferry first thing on Tuesday morning. Our ferry landed on Amorgos at the port of Katapola at midday, giving us time to walk around our first town of white walls…Read More

Madrid

10/06/2019

Our holiday got off to a rocky start when, while sitting in the Medellin terminal, I received a text saying that our 8pm flight had been delayed and I would get more information at 10pm. Our connecting flight from Bogota to Madrid left at 11pm, and we had to pick…Read More

Festival of Flowers 2019

08/07/2019

We managed to avoid the concert on Saturday night by going to Bogota for the family reunion, but came back too tired to enjoy most of the festivities that run through the week. We took advantage of the public holiday on Wednesday to visit the award winning orchids in the…Read More

Family Reunion

08/03/2019

Sandra’s mother, Lilia, was separated from her three siblings when she was very young. One of them moved to France and another to Venezuela. Twelve years ago, they tracked each other down through a TV show and were reunited virtually. This weekend, all four siblings met together for the first…Read More
