Athens

Feeling soooo grateful for such an amazing holiday with my love. I was in Paradise, and Murray and I were part of it. I keep in my mind incredible memories from this vacation, the best  I have had so far. Knowing more than ever that simple things make a great life. I was amazed with the Greek islands´ landscape, the deep blue Mediterranean ocean and the contrast with the local white houses took me back to the movie ‘Mamma mia’ which  was my motivation to go there.

Every morning and afternoon I was seduced by the colourful sunrise and sunset in the best company.

The last two nights we stayed in Athens where we took the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Greek history.

First, we went to the Olympic Stadium, which was opened in 1896 for the first modern Olympic games but it´s actually a renovated version of the original stadium from 500 B.C. It´s very interesting to hear the story of this place during your walk, as you receive an audio guide and choose the language in which you prefer to listen to it.  In the end we arrived at the pódium and both of us share the first place. 😉

The next day, we went to the Acropolis Museum, we saw beautiful sculptures, their body proportion and eye to the small details make them perfect. Then it was clear why my colleages asked me to bring them Greek men as souvenirs.

After, we went up to ‘The Acropolis’. It is located on the top of a hill. Looking at those amazing ruins and the perfection of that architecture makes you wonder how was that possible. Maybe having less, you are capable to do more…maybe it´s more about persistence and inspiration…maybe I´m getting too philosophical…LOL

Finally, we attended the changing of the guards at the ‘Unknown Soldier’. It happens every hour at the Parliament building, in front of Syntagma Square. The soldiers wear special clothes, particulary a pair of shoes called ‘Tsarouchi´ as part of the traditional uniform. I admired the seriouness of their faces and the way they coordinate their march in pairs, taking into account they have to be perfectly still for an hour. Apparently it is an honour to have this position.

Then time to go back home, to our routine, which I like as well.

Thank you Guapo for making my life!!! Looking forward to more adventures together. ´To infinity and beyond´.

For our Friends,we hope you enjoy the photos and that they motivate you to go to Greece one day, if you haven´t been there yet. This place should be on your bucket list.
